The Quick Explanation
Simply Put:
Email Spoofing is when an attacker forges the “from” address on an email to make it look like it’s coming from someone you trust, a coworker, a vendor, even your own company’s domain. The email itself never actually came from that person, but the display name and sender address are manipulated to make it appear that way.
Why it Matters:
Most people judge whether an email is safe based on who it looks like it’s from, and spoofing exploits exactly that. A spoofed email asking for a wire transfer, login credentials, or sensitive files can be difficult to catch at a glance, especially when it mimics someone the recipient already trusts and communicates with regularly.
How We Protect Clients:
- Monitor client email systems around the clock for suspicious activity
- Configure email authentication protocols to help verify legitimate senders
- Educate employees to double check sender details before acting on unexpected requests
- Flag and filter suspicious inbound email before it reaches an inbox
